An Introduction of Sorts...

I would start off by saying that I am not an elaborate web page designer, but I guess that is fairly obvious, right? My minimalist approach to web design lies in the doctrine of "it's the message that's important, not the flashiness." With that said, I guess I should get to said message.

Lankenstein.com is the quasi-professional site for John Gibson (hey, that's me!). It's important to stress the "quasi" aspect of that hyphenated word: at times one may find self deprecating asides, references to being 26 years old and still collecting toys, and wetting the bed at night after seeing The Ring one too many times (I swear, that only happened once...three times. Okay, so five times. Don't hold it against me). Despite my professional demeanor, I am a joker at heart, and in my opinion, levity should be added anytime it can to situations and writings. Unless, well, that writing is the Declaration of Independence. I'm sure the Founding Fathers would have been taken a little less seriously by King George had they mentioned their Gi Joe collection. Or would it have been their Red Coat collection at that time? Jeez, I'm rambling, aren't I?

Then, of course, there is the professional side of Lankenstein.com and John Gibson (if you are just tuning in, that's me). This side of me is quite the excellent team player, lone wolf (when the time calls for it), outside-the-box thinker, communicator, and any number of other descriptors that would work well in a mad-lib-esque cover letter. This side is free of the self-deprecation humor and the bed wetting, thankfully.

With that said, hope you enjoy your stay at the site.

::Updates::

5/15/06: As of Saturday, I now hold a Master's Degree in Mass Communications from Murray State University. Well, I don't literally "hold" it, as the only thing I have physically held is a fake diploma that I got while walking on stage. But, well, you get the gist. Anyway, that's kinda a cool thing (the MA, not the fake diploma). I'm hoping to not only get a few more video projects done now, but also to make some significant changes to the site this summer.

5/07/06: I have taken a brief break from working on new projects so that I can finish my finals. Graduation looms like a pendulum blade (that's not a good analogy, is it?), so I'd like to make sure I meet all my deadlines this week and get my diploma next weekend. When the summer begins, I will get back to work on three projects that are on hiatus, one of which is a horror film. Oh, and, I guess I got engaged. That's kinda a big deal, isn't it? Maybe it is. The video of the proposal is available, temporarily, for download here. Windows Media Player or Winamp is required.
